Art Sanctuary

An easy and livable sensibility that acts as a backdrop to both art and life.
Art Sanctuary
With a love for art and family this remodel was developed with an easy and livable sensibility that acts as a backdrop to both art and life. With a classic link between indoors and out, the home effectively transitions between the garden and ocean; the entry hall reinforcing this connection both visually and temporally with a linear skylight demarcating the changing time and season. An operable wall of glass on the ocean side allows in both the warm ocean breezes as well as the natural light that floods the rooms – creating a warm and inviting home. The interior reinforces this open light and airy feeling with a palette that brings in many of the exterior materials and furnishings that are rendered in a natural warm palette. The owner’s love for art magnifies these bright sunlit spaces as each piece informs moments within this couple’s life, helping to reinforce the overall nature of the spaces and the true meaning of home. Ultimately the architecture acts in a manner similar to a magnifying glass – allowing the visitor to see more clearly the special nature of the owners themselves.‍
